About me

Mid-Year Freak Out Book Tag

I was tagged by Emma-Louise from Read, Write, Inspire to complete the Mid-Year Freak Out Tag, you can read her post here. I had to browse back through my #LittleLoves posts to remember what I’ve actually read this year!

Best books you’ve read so far in 2017

I absolutely loved Small Great Things; Jodi Picoult is one of my favourite authors so I love it when she releases a new book. I find her characters to interesting and I can never put her books down, and this one was no different. I also really enjoyed Boy, Snow, Bird by Helen Oyeyemi which is a retelling of Snow White.

Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2017

I’m currently reading Always With Love by Giovanna Fletcher which is a sequel, although I’m not sure it counts since I haven’t read the first one!

New release you haven’t read yet but want to

I really want to read Into the Water by Paula Hawkins after loving the Girl on the Train.

Most anticipated release in the 2nd half of the year

The Little Book of Lykke by Meik Wiking, its the follow up to the Little Book of Hygge and is all about the search for happiness. It’s not released until 7th September but I’ve been lucky to receive a early copy to review and I can’t wait to read it!

Biggest disappointment

The Versions of Us by Laura Barnett. I’d read such great reviews but I found it really hard to follow, my baby brain might be to blame though!

Biggest surprise

Hold Back the Stars by Katie Khan. I chose this book from the library purely for the front cover and although I’m not usually into Sci Fi I actually really enjoyed reading it.

Fave new author

I don’t really have a new favourite but have re-affirmed Jodi Picoult as a firm favourite as it had been a while before I’d read a new book by her.

Fave new fictional crush

Erm I can’t say I have one…

Fave new characters

Ruth Jefferson from Small Great Things, such a strong female character.

Book that made you cry

I’m always crying at books so to be honest most of the books I’ve read this year probably saw me shed a tear!

Book that made you happy

The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up actually made me really happy as it gave my the push I needed to start clearing out when I read it back in January. A serious de-clutter is good for the soul I think. My friend bought me the Scummy Mummies book and this also made me happy as there are lots of laugh out loud moments!

Most beautiful book you’ve bought this year

If we’re going from front covers here then Vinegar Girl by Anne Tyler was a seriously pretty book! I really enjoyed reading it too.

What books do you need to read before the end of the year

I’ve heard a lot of people talk about The Couple Next Door so I’d really like to read this soon.

I’m tagging fellow book worms Chantal from Capturing These Days and Stacie from Parker & Me, and anyone else who’d like to join in!

I’m always looking for new book recommendations so please comment your favourites below!

Thanks for popping by,

Kimberley x
