New Year’s Resolutions 2017

I do love the feeling of a New Year and a fresh start and have made New Year’s resolutions for as long as I can remember. I’m never particularly good at sticking to them, but hey who knows, this could be my year! These are my resolutions for the year ahead…

Be grateful everyday

Sometimes when life gets busy and hectic and stressful it can be easy to forget just how lucky we are. This year I want to make an effort to appreciate all of the things that make life great. I am going to keep a gratitude or thankfulness diary and write down one thing in everyday that I am grateful for, however small. I think it will be a great reflection at the end of each day, and be lovely to look back on when things are getting on top of me.

Celebrate the small things

On a similar vein to the first resolution really, but I want to appreciate all of the little moments that make life so special, to take a step back and celebrate the small things. Last year we got married, and the year before that we got engaged, who knows that big moments 2017 will bring, but if there aren’t any huge ones, I’ll be happy knowing I’ve celebrated the small things throughout the year.

Be more present

So basically less mindless scrolling! I love my photo to keep in touch with friends and family, see what my favourites have been up to on social media, and to document our lives too. However I feel we’re all guilty of mindlessly scrolling and refreshing the same page when we’re not actually getting anything from it at all. Its this I want to cut back on. I find that at times I can’t even watch TV or eat a meal without being on my phone too, and its really not necessary.

Be healthy

This is probably a resolution every year, and I always have at least a few months where I stick to it. This year I’d like to find something that sticks for good. I want to eat better, exercise more, and look after my mental health – starting with a better work-life balance I think.

So there are my resolutions for the coming year. I’m hoping that writing them down will help me to be more accountable and to stick to them for the year.

Have you made any resolutions for 2017?

Thanks for popping by,

Kimberley x

  1. I’m the same at the start of every new year – I love to focus on a few things I’d like to improve about my life. I’ve also been terrible at scrolling through my phone. With Instagram I can easily lose myself for a few hours. Totally pointless really! Good luck with sticking to them lovely. #sharingthebloglove

  2. Best of luck with your resolutions. I keep a weekly gratitude diary which I’ve found really helpful in shifting my mindset to become more positive (I publish it fortnightly on my blog, because sometimes the weekly ones aren’t particularly interesting to other people I think!). It’s so easy to think you’ve had a terrible week, but then find there are lots of little positives if you think about it. I know I’m definitely guilty of the mindless scrolling on my phone too – it’s such a timewaster but so easy to sink into. Thanks for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove

  3. Good luck with your resolutions and I’m also going to try and be a little more healthy than I have been being recently. I’m going to try and not put any pressure on myself so I dont know how long it will last!:)
Thanks so much for linking up at #KCACOLS. Hope you come back again next Sunday

  4. The mindless scrolling is a time thief. I’ve been trying to cut that out too. I think I often do it when I need a break. I fool myself into believing that I’m working but really, I’m accomplishing nothing. To fight that, I’m allowing myself actual breaks where I walk away from the computer and do something I enjoy doing. At least that way I can feel like I’m having some me time and not just wasting a bunch of time because I didn’t feel like working. #SundayBest

  5. Good resolutions here! Wishing you all the best with them. I think like you I need to start appreciating the little things and stop seeing the glass half empty… It’s a whole process but you seem to know what you are doing! #SundayBest
