About me

The Christmas Tag

I saw Mafligo’s Christmas tag at the weekend, and decided to ‘tag’ myself since I love this time of year so much!

What is your favourite Christmas movie?

Elf! I absolutely love it and it makes me feel so warm and fuzzy. This Friday I’m going to see it at the drive in cinema with my sister and I just can’t wait! I also love Miracle on 34th Street as it brings back such fond childhood memories.

Have you ever had a white Christmas?

I think so, when I was younger. I used to have really bad circulation so got really really cold, so wasn’t a particular fan of being out in the snow and ice. Looks pretty out of the window though! As an adult I’m more worried about getting home for Christmas and not being able to travel in the snow.

Where do you usually spend your holiday?

At my parent’s house. I always have, I just love how we do Christmas and I can’t imagine spending it anywhere else. My husband and I have never spent a Christmas together, our families live about 5 hours away from each other, although that will all change if we’re lucky enough to have a family of our own I’m sure! On Boxing Day my mum’s side of the family all get together too.

What is your favourite Christmas song?

Ooh a tricky one, I love so many. ‘All I want for Christmas’ makes me feel super festive, and usually seems to be the first Christmas song I hear on the radio. I love to listen to ‘Driving Home for Christmas’ as I drive home for Christmas too.

Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

Nope. The only presents I occasionally open before the big day are ones from my class, when they’re obviously chocolate and we really need some chocolate haha. We always open our presents first things in Christmas morning, none of this eating breakfast or getting dressed first!

What holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?

There are so many festive things that I love and look forward too, I wrote about them all on my Festive Bucket List.

Is your Christmas Tree real or fake?

Real, ever since my husband and I moved in together about 5 years ago we’ve always had a real tree. My parents have a fake tree (apart from one year of my childhood) which I never had a problem with, but I’m always so in love with our real trees. I love choosing a tree and that no two are ever the same. I always fall in love with our trees and all their wonky bits and can happily sit and stare at them for ages (crazy Christmas Tree lady right here). Last year I bought a small real tree for my desk at work and took it back to my parent’s with me for Christmas, I’ve done the same again this year.

What is your all time favourite holiday treat/food/sweet?

Lindt bears and Santa, and of course Christmas Dinner itself. I don’t like mince pies, Christmas cake, Christmas pudding or anything with cinnamon in!

Be honest, do you like giving or receiving gifts better?

Definitely giving. I love choosing things for people that I know they’ll love, and get so excited to give them to them that sometimes I can hardly wait. Its even better when you get to watch the present being opened too.

What is the best Christmas present you ever received?

A guinea pig as a child, we called her Holly.

What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

I never want to be anywhere else apart from home. One year my parent’s suggested having lunch at the pub on Christmas Day to save cooking, and the thought was so terrible to me that I cooked for us all instead!

Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?

I’m not bad, some years I but in more effort with ribbons and bows than others, it depends how busy I’ve been. I like to match the wrapping paper to my tree theme and each person’s presents are all wrapped in matching paper, so I know who’s is who.

Most memorable Christmas moment?

I remember once hearing bells when I was in bed on Christmas Eve, and I have lots of lovely memories of opening the door to the lounge as a child and seeing a sack of presents for each member of the family.

What made you realise the truth about Santa?

I don’t really remember to be honest. I do remember being in the car with my parents and my Dad saying ‘You do know Santa isn’t real don’t you?’ I’d definitely already worked it out for myself, but it was the first time an adult had actually confirmed it!

What makes the holidays special for you?

All the build up and excitement and spending some proper quality time with my family.

Since I tagged myself I invite anyone reading this to join in too!

Thanks for popping by,

Kimberley x
