One of my New Year’s Resolutions was to be grateful every day. To find something in every day that made me happy, no matter how small, or how bad the rest of the day was. I have managed to keep with this resolution so far, and have kept a diary of these little things to look back on, so I thought I’d share them here too.
I’m thankful for my family and friends, for my home and my health, for the health and happiness of those around me everyday, every single day. I never forget how lucky I am. But sometimes a day is just rubbish. Its stressful or hectic or sad. But finding a little thing that was good, something specific to that day, can really change the way you feel come the end of the day.
In January I was grateful for…
- A day spent at home with Tom
- A kind and generous gift from my Mum
- Friends at work
- My class being pleased to see me
- A sunny day for a school trip
- A phone call from my Grandparents
- The time to finish clearing the spare room
- A super clean bathroom
- Time and energy to workout
- A productive afternoon on PPA (planning, preparation and assessment)
- Getting out for a power walk
- 3 years of Harriet Pug
- An early finish on Tom’s Birthday
- A lovely day out
- 3 hours chatting to Tom in the car
- Exciting news from a family member
- Trying out a different courtesy car
- Leftover so I didn’t have to cook
- Power walk with friends
- Going for dinner with Tom
- Spending time with my sister
- My new little reading corner
- Chocolate
- Friends to power walk with, even when we’ve all worked late
- A lie in, an early finish, a trip to the library and flowers from Tom
- A message from a friend
- A hug when I was feeling sad
- Pizza
- Finally finishing all of the jobs around the house
- Starting a new book
- Making plans with a friend
Its really made each day more positive, like focusing on trying out a new car rather than the annoyance of having to take my car to the garage! I’ve enjoyed reflecting back at the end of the month too.
Do you find things to be grateful for each day?
Thanks for popping by,
Kimberley x
This was a lovely post to read☺ I try to find things I’m grateful for each day but sometimes it’s easy to forget so finding the time to write it down is a lovely idea.

I love this! I may do the same for February xx
Aww this was lovely to read 😊 xx
I do this every month too! It really makes you realise how much you have to be thankful for xx
I tried the 100 happy days challenge albeit a bit edited (the original challenge was to take a photo and post to facebook but it seems a bit ‘in your face’ for people who might be going through a rough patch, so like you I just make a note just for myself). I think your idea works better though, because we can’t be ‘happy’ every day, but we can be grateful! Funnily enough, I have a post sat in my drafts about it, because one of the things I was pleased with was how few of the things that made me happy came from spending money, rather like your list 🙂

Oh that’s a good observation, I hadn’t noticed but you’re right, they’re things money can’t buy. I look forward to reading your post x
This is such a lovely idea-something i could definitely benefit from! x
What a lovely idea. I’m a big believer in your frame of mind affecting your day to day so it’s nice to remind yourself of the things you are grateful for rather than focus on the negative. 🙂 Thanks for linking up to #KCACOLS
This is lovely I could do with something like this to remind me of the little things I am grateful for each day #kcacols
A lovely way to remember the little things. I often try and think of something I’m grateful for especially when I’m having a difficult day lol! #KCACOLS
