Christmas is my favourite time of year and to me the build up is the best part. There are certain things that I look forward to over the festive period each year.
This year I’m heavily pregnant in December, so I have all of my usual enthusiasm without the necessary energy to throw myself wholeheartedly into the festivities. There’s also the limbo of being full term from mid-December and not quite knowing how Christmas will look for us this year.
But I really want to soak to the festive atmosphere all the same so here is my festive bucket list for this year. (If you want to see all of the things I usually like to do, you can read last year’s bucket list here)
Chose and decorate the tree
Ever since I’ve lived with Tom we’ve had a real tree. I love to go and chose the perfect one and get quite emotionally attached to them! This year we won’t have the space for a big tree so will get a smaller potted one to sit in front of the fireplace.
Get out the Decorations
I love getting out the decorations each year and rediscovering my favourite ones. We won’t be decorating the whole house due to the ongoing renovations but I’m sure it will make me happy too see them again anyway.
Read a Christmas novel
I’ve picked up these from the library, perfect for cosying up in front of the tree.
Watch a Christmas Film with Hot Chocolate
Elf is my favourite and I also love Love Actually, Miracle on 34th Street and The Holiday. Maybe this will be the year I watch Home Alone for the first time too…
Wrap Presents and Write Cards by the Tree
I’ve delegated most of the present buying to my sister this year but I’ll still have a few to wrap! I like to make the parcels looks pretty and have them under our tree for a while before I give them away.
Get a Costa Christmas Cup
Preferably filled with a tasty hot chocolate!
Eat a Christmas Dinner
Hopefully at home with my family on Christmas Day but this will depend on baby! I’ll be having one at school during the last week of term just in case.
Dress Harriet Pug in a Festive Outfit
Yes I am that embarrassing puppy auntie…
Wear a Christmas Jumper
Non of my usual collection fit me this year, but never you fear I have this lovely maternity number form JoJo Maman Bebe!
Oh and not forgetting Christmas PJs too!
Sing Driving Home for Christmas
While driving home for Christmas… from work. Or being driven home for Christmas by my mum, because I’ll be too pregnant to do that drive myself!
I usually like to go to a Christmas market, visit the decorated Chatsworth House and do some festive baking too, but I don’t think I’ll manage any of these this year!
What’s on your festive bucket list?
Thanks for popping by,
Kimberley x
Oh this is the most festive post ever! I looove your maternity Christmas jumper! I was heavily pregnant over Christmas too and wish I had got something like that! xx
Thank you! I wasn’t sure I could justify a Christmas Jumper I might only wear one year but I’m so glad I did x
All of these are such great things to do. I love a festive themed book – I’m about to start my 2nd one of the year. Try to watch Home Alone if you get chance, it’s great! Good luck with the baby 🙂 #SharingtheBlogLove
I love all these cute traditions! Congrats and good luck as your family grows. Next Christmas will be very interesting!
Love this bucket list! I love to sit and wrap my presents by the tree watching a Christmas movie and I love that Christmas means more excuses to have hot chocolate. Thank you for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove
Before I say anything else… You haven’t seen Home Alone?! You need to make this Christmas the year you experience it for the first time, you’re seriously missing out! I love the Christmas jumper, it’s so cute! I wish that had been around this time last year (although I probably didn’t have the bump to pull it off at that point!) Thanks for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove
The perfect festive list, I do all of these every year and it gets me in the mood for Christmas! #sharingthebloglove
Sounds like the perfect run up to Christmas to me. #sharingthebloglove
That’s one lovely festive top there. I also love reading. Did you have a favourite? #SharingtheBlogLove
