A Return to #LittleLoves

Sooooo. Its been a while. Like a long while. I think it was around Easter time that I shared my last Little Loves post. The switch to self hosted totally threw me for a while and then so much else has been going on that I never quite got back into the Little Loves habit again but oh have I missed it! In the meanwhile we’ve moved house so are currently living in a building site, oh and we had a little announcement too…

Its finally the summer holidays though so I’m hoping the extra free time will be just what I need to get myself in some kind of blogging routine again.

Lately I’ve…

Quite a few book actually, which makes a nice change. Since we moved and don’t have a TV in our room at the moment I’ve been reading before bed and as we don’t have a shower right now either I’ve also been doing a lot more reading in the bath. I’ve been drawn towards easy reading Chick Lit while there is so much else going on in my head.

We recently got into Better Call Saul so have been watching a few episodes a week. We seem to be a lot slower at making our way through box sets or Netflix series than other people so I’m sure it will take us a while! We’ve also been watching In The Dark on the BBC. We enjoy it but it also seems to annoy us too, although we still keep watching to find out what happens!

We also watched our baby moving around and being so active at our First Scan. Its such an incredible moment isn’t it?!? We were luckily enough to have two 12 week scans (due to being unsure on dates) so got to see baby twice in the space of two weeks. It does mean its feeling like a super long wait until the 20 week scan though!

Cooking anything at all in our new house is hard work at the moment, and couple that with morning sickness and you get a pretty uninspiring weekly menu! Shanghai Chilli Prawns are always a firm favourite (and very easy to make) and you can find my recipe here.

I’ve been making the most of slower summer holiday mornings to experiment with some breakfast smoothies this week.

I’m officially in maternity clothes! I’m slowing trying to build a staple maternity wardrobe without breaking the bank (have you seen my Maternity Wishlist?). Maternity clothes are so comfortable I think I might wear them forever!

I’ve also been back in my swimming costume as I’m trying to swim twice a week, although I’m worried that achey hips may put a stop to that soon!

Our baby’s heartbeat at my 15 week midwife appointment, it was so magical! I wasn’t expecting her to listen so early so Tom wasn’t with me at the appointment, however this weekend he was able to hear the heartbeat with my sister’s pinard, the joys of having a student midwife in the family!

We had a lovely weekend in Norfolk before the last week of term and as our cottage was right on the sea front we got to wake up to the sound of waves each morning, so relaxing!

And lastly…

I can’t believe its the end of the first week of the holidays already! I’ve had a lovely week of family time, food with friends and holiday booking. I hope you all have a great weekend.

I’m linking up with the lovely Morgana at Coffee Work Sleep Repeat for this week’s #LittleLoves and am looking forward to reading about what everyone else has been loving this week too.

  1. Congratulations again on your exciting baby news. Keep up with the swimming, it was a godsend for me when I was pregnant. I shopped in New Look for lots of maternity clothes, they used to do a petite range which was amazing for me! Hope you’re settling into your new home nicely (despite the mess!). Enjoy your weekend xx

  2. Glad to see you back with your #littleloves. Aww the first scan and hearing your baby’s heartbeat for the first time is just magical. What a lovely view from your holiday cottage! Enjoy the rest of the holidays x

  3. Aw this was lovely, and it must be nice to look back at these over time and realise what exactly you were doing in detail. Congratulations on your baby! The only advice I can give you, is instead of buying everything “maternity” (which tends to be double the price anyway!), just buy lots of oversized tops and trousers that you would normally wear, and that you can relax in after the baby is born. I bought so much maternity stuff with elastic on the sides, and I felt funny wearing them after he was born because I wasn’t pregnant anymore and they all went in the bin! It was such a shame, but a lesson learnt.

    Again, congrats! X

  4. A lot has happened since your last Little Loves, but all good things by the sounds of it – I did congratulate on Twitter, but again congratulations on the baby news! So exciting! The first scan is just so lovely as well as hearing the heartbeat. I hope pregnancy is treating you well.

    The breakfast smoothies look yum!

  5. Aw congratulations! I loved the little pregnancy milestones like the first scan and hearing the heartbeat – it’s so incredible isn’t it? Better Call Saul is on our ‘must-watch’ list too and we still haven’t got round to starting the first season!

  6. Congratulations again on your exciting baby news!!
I’m sorry for the timing with me taking a break on Little Loves just when you’re getting going! Be sure to link back up again on the 25th xx
