Back to School, Crumble and The Little Book of Lykke #LittleLoves

Ahhh back to work week! Its certainly harder being at work all day when pregnant than it to be off. Its been a busy and hectic one with my classroom only being finished for Wednesday lunchtime (even though the children started Tuesday!) due to over running building works. But it hasn’t been too bad and my new class are really lovely.

This week I…

I’ve been too tired to start another novel this week but have been really loving The Little Book of Lykke again, reading a little each evening. As well as really enjoyable content the book is just so good looking and I love the images. It was properly released yesterday and I really recommend buying it!

All of the little excited/nervous faces of my new class (and parents) on their first days of school this week. It is really special to be a child’s first teacher, and a huge responsibility too!

We also watched The Great British Bake Off again and it felt more normal this week and less like there were just stand in presenters.

I found lots of blackberries in our garden at the weekend (a perk of a totally untamed garden) so thought it would be rude not to make crumble really. We also had some rhubarb from Tom’s parents’ garden so I made apple, blackberry and rhubarb crumble. There was also enough left for during Bake Off too.

I made my classroom back into a classroom after having a new floor and having to start totally from scratch. I’m in a separate classroom this year after always being in a double base before so its a big change. I’m really please with how its turned out though so its worth all of the hard work and the very achy back and feet!

My maternity work trousers from New Look. I know a lot of people say they make do without buying specific maternity clothes but to me they’ve been amazing and so so comfortable. I think they’ve been a totally worthwhile investment and will all hopefully last me for future pregnancies too.

Hypno-birthing relaxation tracks in the bath on Sunday night. I made a conscious effort to relax the night before work and I think I’ll try to listen to these more often as I have a bad habit of continuing to scroll on my phone whilst in the bath so don’t really properly switch off.

I also head everyone’s summer holiday news, its been lovely to catch up with everyone at work after not seeing some people for 6 weeks.

And lastly…

We’re off to meet our newest niece this evening and I’m so excited. Then we’ll head home tomorrow afternoon for more work around the house. Our bedroom currently doesn’t have an plaster, oh or a ceiling! I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

I’m linking up with the lovely Morgana at Coffee Work Sleep Repeat for this week’s #LittleLoves and am looking forward to reading about what everyone else has been loving this week too.

  1. That crumble sounds amazing. I love my little book of hygge so this sounds another book I would enjoy. Your new classroom looks lovely. Enjoy meeting your new niece.

  2. That crumble looks delicious! I have that book on my massive ‘to read’ list – saying that I STILL have the Hygge one on there from last year! Your classroom looks fab. Loving the little relaxation thing on a Sunday night before work, sounds like you need it. Have a great weekend and good luck with the bedroom renovations! x

  3. This sounds like a book I really need to read. Sounds like you have had a lovely but busy week darling. Love the crumble sounds delicious too. #littleloves

  4. Oh man, that crumble looks super yummy! Crumble is one of my hands down favourite puddings.
So pleased that you’re doing some hypnobirthing. I used the techniques with my second labour and it helped so much. I recommend it to all my pregnant friends, especially any that are anxious about birth.
Hope the renovations and your new class both continue to go well.
    Have a lovely week xx
