Christmas Cupcakes, Chatsworth House and a Stressful Week #LittleLoves

What. A. Week. This week has been a tough one. Leaving the house at 7am and not returning until 7.30pm. Observations, inspections, twilight training, two evening staff meetings and decisions from management that have made me really rather cross. It has been so stressful and has felt so long and I’m literally exhausted and feeling over worked and under-appreciated. Its times like these I’m so grateful for friends at work, they’ve really been the saving grace this week. I love my job, I love teaching children, and its such a privilege to teach reception and be their first teacher, but I seriously hate all the other non-teaching things that come along too! Anyway, enough negativity, its December, the tree is up and there’s one day until the weekend!

Last weekend was really lovely. I had a relaxing day on Saturday, knowing how busy this week would be, and on Sunday we went to Chatsworth to see the Christmas Markets and the house all done up for the Nutcracker theme, ticking three whole things off my Festive Bucket List in the process! Its become one of our festive traditions and is a lovely way to kick start the Christmas celebrations.

This week I…

I’ve not had much time to read this week so I’ve still been reading The Elephant in the Mirror. Its proving to be a very interesting read and really thought provoking. I’ll probably read it again as soon as I’ve finished, and work through the activities when I have had a little more time to think through them. You can download the Kindle edition of The Elephant in the Mirror for FREE until the 3rd (oh quick that’s tomorrow!), I’d really recommend doing so.

Nothing all that exciting on the TV front really, a few episodes of Grand Designs and New Lives in the Wild. I have been watching lots of YouTube videos, while I get ready in the morning and cook in the evening. I’ve watched lots of Mummy Daddy Me’s videos this week, I love Katie’s videos and have been happy to see lots of new ones uploaded this week. I’ve also been watching Charlotte Taylor and Mrs Meldrum lots too.

These cute and simple Christmas cupcakes using My Cupcake Toppers. You can find my really easy recipe here and get 10% off using my code OHJUST10.

A Christmas jumper to see the Christmas house at Chatsworth, the third thing off my Festive Bucket List. I own 4 Christmas jumpers (and two Christmas t-shirts) and this is the least Christmassy of them all, since it was still November at the time.

Lots more singing in preparation for our Christmas performance. Oh and Mary seems to think the words to one of the songs are ‘rushing around, making the steaks’ instead of making mistakes, but she accompanied this with a frying steaks action that was just too cute to correct!

And lastly…

My sister is heading over on Saturday to explore our local Christmas markets, and most importantly to drop off her pug Harriet (Harry) who is staying with us for the whole of next week. I just can’t wait! If you follow me on Instagram prepare yourselves for some pug spam, oh actually even better, festive pug spam!

I’m linking up with Coffee Work Sleep Repeat again for this week’s #littleloves, I can’t wait to see what everyone else has been up to this week too!

Thanks for popping by,

  1. Ahhh sounds so festive…. I have yet to go to the Christmas markets but I might skip over Tuesday solo .Is that sad? Or exciting? Loving the Xmas jumper too. Christmas cupcakes sound delicious right now. Breakfast treat for sure. Hope you are having a lovely weekend. #littleloves

  2. I love a bit of pug spam! Sounds like work has been crazy busy, we have weeks like that too and it does make you feel very unappreciated as you are just expected to get on with it! And grrrr to management decisions. In the staffroom we sometimes joke that we must be part of some Truman Show type reality program where the management are trying to see how much crap they can throw our way before we all crack! xx #littleloves

  3. Oh my goodness what a busy week! You definitely did the right thing treating yourself with a trip to Chatsworth!
Love the story about ‘Mary’ frying a steak – too cute! My littlest girl is Mary in her Nativity so we’ve had non-stop singing and practicing her lines for the past few weeks. Honestly I think I’m going to know these songs better than most of the children! xx
