Elf, Beach Walks and Christmas Dinner #LittleLoves

I’ve had the most wonderful Christmas week and I hope you all have too. I had a day of shopping with my sister on Friday then did some last minute present wrapping and delivering on Christmas Eve. Christmas Day we stayed home and my Grandparents came over. We had a lovely time opening presents, eating lots of food, playing games and watching films. Boxing Day is always spent with my Mum’s side of the family and more food, games and a nice big country walk.

The in between days have been a mixture of a lazy sofa afternoons, watching films, catching up with friends and a big walk at the beach. I headed back home last night and now have a lovely 4 day weekend with the husband before heading back to work on Tuesday (boooo, we’re not talking about that!).

My sister bought me Marie Kondo – The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying (I tried not to be offended haha) for Christmas and I read half of it all in one go one evening this week. I’m hooked and itching to get tidying! I think the approach will end up being a little too extreme for me but I have felt myself feeling frustrated by the sheer volume of ‘stuff’ in our house for quite a while now so I’m looking forward to doing something about it. A house move may potentially be on the cards for us in the New Year which is another reason to start de-cluttering now.

I’ve also been browsing through the latest slimming world magazine for new recipe ideas for the New Year. I needed to get back on plan before Christmas and I definitely do after all of the festive eating!

Last Friday night (after I’d written my little loves post so I’m including it in this one!) I went to see Elf at the drive in cinema with my sister and a friend (and poorly Harriet Pug who was super sleepy after having an anaesthetic that day). I’ve seen the film lots of times before, its probably one of my favourites, but it was nice to watch it cosied up in the car and I’d never been to a drive in cinema before!

I also spent a lazy sofa afternoon watching ‘How to be Single’ with my mum and sister. I chose it from sky to watching then realised 10 seconds in that I’d seen it before! I love Rebel Wilson and the film still made me laugh the second time around.

I seem to have missed lots of Christmas specials on TV but have lots to work through over the weekend!

I of course also watched my family open all of their presents on Christmas Day.

Christmas Dinner! Its my 4th year cooking for the family after my parent’s decided they’d had enough one year and suggested we eat at the pub instead. I wasn’t having that, we’re a pjs all day on Christmas Day kind of family, so I offered to cook instead and have ever since.

I also made some Christmas cupcakes and a key lime pie for our family get together on Boxing Day. I didn’t get any photos of what I made but here is the huge dessert table that we worked our way through!

Mainly Christmas jumpers, comfy leggings and PJs. And lots and lots of layers to visit the beach on Wednesday, it was so cold but we had a really lovely walk and some much needed fresh air.

My Uncle playing the ukulele as part of our Boxing Day quiz and lots of Christmas music too.

And lastly…

We’re meeting friends for lunch tomorrow before spending the rest of NYE at home, probably with a nice meal and a film on the sofa (how boring are we lol). Then on New Year’s Day we’ll have a second Christmas dinner and presents together, after spending ‘real’ Christmas apart.

I hope you all have a lovely NYE and an amazing 2017! x

I’m linking up with Coffee Work Sleep Repeat again for this week’s #littleloves, I can’t wait to see what everyone else has been up to this week too!

Thanks for popping by,

Kimberley x

  1. Your Christmas and new year plans sound lovely. Your Christmas dinner looks delicious. I’ve got a lot of Christmas specials to catch up on too. I just hope I can this weekend. I don’t think I’ll enjoy Christmas specials much after the new year! I’m keen to declutter too!

  2. Oh wow, what a wonderful Christmas you’ve had! That dessert table is making me drool. Haha. Love that you cook the Christmas dinner, I’d be the same though, I can’t get on board with going out to eat on Christmas Day. xx
