I’m Back! A Swimming Costume, Hairspray and We Never Asked For Wings: Two Weeks of #LittleLoves

Well. Its been while (well actually only two weeks but it feels so much longer than that!) but now I’m back after finally making the switch to self hosted. It was stressful and I’m not ready to talk about it yet haha. My blog isn’t looking its best, I’ve spent hours faffing around with it so just decided to get on with writing and I’ll sort out its appearance soon! Any recommendations of themes are welcome oh and if anyone knows if there is such a plug in that allows you to make a template for posts you write all the time (like #LittleLoves) with all the headings and things I’d love to know!

My last #LittleLoves was published on Good Friday and it feels like sooo much has happened since then. I went on two spa days over the Easter weekend while I was staying at my parents’ house, went for dinner with friends, visited my Grandparents and walked my sister’s dog lots! Then Tom and I went away for a few nights in East Sussex which was really lovely. Then I was back to work this week and the week has been looooong. Isn’t it always the way when you’ve been off? So weeks means lots of #LittleLoves, so here are mine…

The past two weeks I…

I’ve actually managed to read two whole books in these past two weeks. It was lovely to have some time to read and once I was in the habit I found myself reading each night before bed too (and staying up way too late when the books got good!). They were both library books that, once again, I chose solely for their font covers!

The first book I read was ‘We Never Asked for Wings’ by Vanessa Diffenbaugh. Its about a woman who has relied on her parents to raise her children, but then has to figure out how to be a mother by herself when her parents leave suddenly to move back to their routes in Mexico. I was pleasantly surprised to find the book was set in San Francisco as it was one of the stops on our honeymoon road trip last year. This was a great read with lots of relatable characters and I really enjoyed it.

Next I read ‘Who Do You Love’ by Jennifer Weiner, the story of a boy and a girl who meet in hospital when they are 8. It follows both of their lives separately and as their paths cross several times over the years. I found myself mentally shouting at the characters in frustration and times and the ending made me cry. I’d recommend this one too!

We have still been totally hooked by Line of Duty and can’t wait for the final episode of this series on Sunday. We’ve only just realised that there was a 3rd series that we’ve totally missed (thanks to us being late to the party and it not being on Netflix!) since seeing the clip of Dot’s dying declaration.

I also got to watch my friend on stage in an amateur production of Hairspray! It was a sell out crowd and the show was amazing, I loved every second and it was worth the late night on a school night!

Papier-Mache planets with my class. So much mess. So much hand washing. We’ll have to wait until Tuesday to see if they all worked out ok!

A swimming costume. In Manchester. In April. Ok so I was at a spa so that’s not as strange as it sounds! On Good Friday my sister and I took my mum for a spa day as belated present for her 60th Birthday. I bought myself this new swimming costume from Primark on the way as I wasn’t feeling very confident to wear a bikini. I also ended up buying some new flip flops, a cover up and this pineapple ‘spa day’ bag, because that’s a thing right?!? They call came in handy for the Saturday too when I went on a second spa day with some friends!

So many songs I’d forgotten about in hairspray! There are so many good ones that I hadn’t remembered from watching the film until I head them again.

And lastly…

We have a three day weekend ahead and aren’t they just the best type? We don’t have huge plans but after a busy week that’s fine by me.

I’m linking up with the lovely Morgana at Coffee Work Sleep Repeat for this week’s #LittleLoves and am looking forward to reading about what everyone else has been loving this week too.

Thanks for popping by,

  1. Well done on making the move to self hosted. I did it February and haven’t looked back. I use a plug in called duplicate post. It really does speed up writing little loves posts.

Love the new swimming costume. Spa days sound lovely.

  2. It sounds like you’ve had a lovely couple of weeks! I’m a little jealous of your spa trip!
I hadn’t realised that all the series of Line Of Duty weren’t on Netflix, have you tried BBC iPLayer? xx
