The Hateful Eight, a Homer Cake and a Christmas Jumper #LittleLoves

Last weekend my husband Tom and I were still away in the stunning New Forest. We got back late Saturday evening and had a restful day at home on the Sunday before going back to work Monday. This week has felt really long again, but my class are loving our new Dinosaurs topic and have all come back refreshed after the week’s break. Our half term started with a visit from the ‘Dinosaur Dome’ which was lots of fun.

I’ve started exercising again this week after an accidental huge break after our wedding. We went for a run on Sunday and then I went to piloxing at the gym Monday night, which did mean I arrived home too late for trick or treaters. Then Tuesday we welcomed November and I literally can’t believe its this time of year already! These are the things I’ve been loving this week.

This week I…

The Forever Girl by Alexander McCall Smith. I’m not sure how it ended up in my house, as lots of people are always lending or gifting me books they’re finished with, knowing I love a recommendation and will read anything!  I’ve never read anything by him before but my mum has read The No1 Ladies Detective Agency for years so his name was familiar to me. The book is set on the Caymen Islands and is about two children, Clover and James, who grow up their. Clover falls deeply in love with James, but her love is unrequited and she follows him across the globe in the hope he will eventually feel the same way. I’m only a few chapters in at the moment but am really enjoying it so far, and can’t wait to see how the story unfolds.

The Hateful Eight. I’m very late to the party with this one I know, but its just never been on my radar to watch before for some reason. Tom had seen it before but enjoyed it so didn’t mind watching it again. I loved it and was gripped the whole way through. I literally had no idea where the story was going until right at the end.

Brownies, key-lime pie and  Homer and Duff cake (all gluten-free)! Which has led to quite a hectic feel to my first week back after the holidays. At time of writing (Thursday eve) they’re not all finished (hence the lack of photos) but hopefully will be by Saturday evening as they’re for my cousin’s 21st Birthday party! Look out for photos on Instagram to see if I get them all done!

I’ve also made lots of new Slimming World recipes from this week’s meal plan since getting back on plan on Monday, oh and carved some pumpkins too!

A Christmas jumper believe it or not! I mentioned on Instagram that my school were making a calendar with each class taking on a month (you can see my class’ Halloween set up here) and December was the staff’s turn. We all donned our Christmas jumpers and some tinsel and decked out the hall for the photo. It felt very strange after as we packed away the decorations, like Christmas had been and gone!

Despite not being a One Direction fan, I love Niall’s new song – This Town. I keep catching myself singing it (much to Tom’s dismay as I’m a terrible singer!).

And lastly…

This weekend is our last one at home for a little while so hoping to make the most of getting stuff done around the house, as well as having some downtime and going to my cousin’s 21st party (which is a two hour drive there and back, so will actually take up a lot of Saturday!). Hope you all have a lovely weekend ahead.

I’m linking up with Coffee Work Sleep Repeat again for this week’s #littleloves, I can’t wait to see what everyone else has been up to this week too!

Thanks for popping by,

Kimberley x

  1. Sounds like you’ve had a good week! The pumpkins look really cool and all the food has made me hungry – I’m typing this at 7.50am and so branflakes will have to cover that hunger for now! I’m really intrigued by the book you mentioned; I’ll have to look in to that. I hope you have a great weekend!

  2. Great pumpkin carving and I will have to check out the Hateful Eight I haven’t had it on my radar either. Book sounds good I have a few to read but I started a #littleloves book list because so many of you are constantly recommending amazing ones. I am linking last week’s #littleloves as I forgot to add it to the linky while I was away and this week we have all been super sick. Not nice to share. 🙂 Happy Weekend ahead.

  3. Sounds like a busy bug fun week! Christmas is soon approaching isn’t it?! Can’t believe how quick this year has actually gone! Your brownies look devilish! Niall’s song is lovely isn’t it? Been hooked on it for weeks! Have a lovely weekend X

  4. What a lovely week! You have been super busy with all that baking.
I’ve not seen the Hateful Eight but it looks like one that the mister and I would both enjoy so we’ll have to check it out.
