Now that I’ve entered my third trimester I’m going to share my essential items for the second trimester. I definitely felt better than during the first trimester but there were still lots of things that made the ride smoother along the way!
With achy hips and a growing bump I don’t know how I would have slept without this pregnancy pillow. I wasn’t sure whether or not to bother getting one but I’m so glad I did! You can read my full review of my pillow here.
Bump Lotions and Potions
I got some new stretch marks on my hips pretty much as soon as I started showing at all, so was determined to minimise the damage from there on in. I have used a range of oils and moisturisers over the past 14 weeks. I like to mix them up a bit as they all leave my bump feeling a little different. They’ve also helped on the days where I’ve had a growth spurt and my bump feels tight and stretched.
Love Hearts and Refreshers
Heartburn has, thankfully, not been to bad so far (apart from one awful night!) so I’ve got away without swigging the Gaviscon just yet. Whenever I do get any heartburn, Love Hearts or Refreshers seem to be enough to help it to pass.
How to Grow a Baby and Push it Out
This book has proved so useful to me so far and I really enjoy reading it. I want to make sure I’m doing the right thing for both me and baby as my pregnancy progresses but I also feel the need to be well informed about my birth choices too. I’ve already had a few bad birth dreams where I’ve felt like I wasn’t being listened to, and this has emphasised the importance of getting my birth preferences down on paper and being fully aware of my options and choices too.
Kicks Count App
I was starting to feel the pressure of being responsible for tracking baby’s movements, so I downloaded the Kicks Count app and it really helped. Seeing the pattern of baby’s movements is really reassuring and when I was worried about reduced movements one day, it gave me the confidence to go and get checked out.
Did you have any second trimester essentials that I’ve missed? I’d love to hear your third trimester essentials too!
Thanks for popping by,
