I do love the feeling of a New Year and a fresh start and have made New Year’s resolutions for as long as I can remember. I’m never particularly good at sticking to them, but hey who knows, this could be my year! These are my resolutions for the year ahead…
Be grateful everyday
Sometimes when life gets busy and hectic and stressful it can be easy to forget just how lucky we are. This year I want to make an effort to appreciate all of the things that make life great. I am going to keep a gratitude or thankfulness diary and write down one thing in everyday that I am grateful for, however small. I think it will be a great reflection at the end of each day, and be lovely to look back on when things are getting on top of me.
Celebrate the small things
On a similar vein to the first resolution really, but I want to appreciate all of the little moments that make life so special, to take a step back and celebrate the small things. Last year we got married, and the year before that we got engaged, who knows that big moments 2017 will bring, but if there aren’t any huge ones, I’ll be happy knowing I’ve celebrated the small things throughout the year.
Be more present
So basically less mindless scrolling! I love my photo to keep in touch with friends and family, see what my favourites have been up to on social media, and to document our lives too. However I feel we’re all guilty of mindlessly scrolling and refreshing the same page when we’re not actually getting anything from it at all. Its this I want to cut back on. I find that at times I can’t even watch TV or eat a meal without being on my phone too, and its really not necessary.
This is probably a resolution every year, and I always have at least a few months where I stick to it. This year I’d like to find something that sticks for good. I want to eat better, exercise more, and look after my mental health – starting with a better work-life balance I think.
So there are my resolutions for the coming year. I’m hoping that writing them down will help me to be more accountable and to stick to them for the year.
Have you made any resolutions for 2017?
Thanks for popping by,
