Last weekend we had a lovely time visiting Tom’s family in Norfolk to celebrate his birthday. I was lucky to be on a course on Friday that finished early so we made it back in time for dinner, unlike the usual midnight. We went out for breakfast and a walk on Saturday with his mum and one of our nieces then had a birthday tea with more of the family. Oh and how could I forget popping over to Tom’s sister’s to meet their adorable new kitten, Mr Basil Mittens!
The week has been a little hectic since then as I’ve had something on every evening after work, taking my car in for its service and collecting it again, a twilight training session and a staff meeting. I managed to squeeze in a HIIT workout from the Body Coach YouTube channel and a power walk with friends which feels good.
This week I…
Read
Not a lot really. Mainly the small print for the warranty and service documents for my car, exciting! I’ve also dipped in and out of The Little Book of Hygge: The Danish Way to Live Well (Penguin Life) and The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up from last week.
Watched
The last episode of the new series of Sherlock, wasn’t it strange! I thought the end was a bit of an anti-climax to be honest, and I’m not really sure I actually got it, but I enjoyed watching it and it kept me guessing the whole way through!
I’ve also been catching up on Coronation Street and I’m so far behind that its still Christmas time, its very strange hearing Christmas music again!
Made
As I wrote last week’s post, Tom’s birthday cake was in the oven, and as I didn’t decorate it until Friday I think I can justify squeezing it into this week’s post! He’s not a huge fan of my creative and inventive bakes so just asked for ‘a plain Victoria sponge cake please’. I was really pleased with how it turned out though and it tasted amazing (if I do say so myself haha).
Wore
Lots of layers to go out for walk at the weekend. We didn’t really get any snow here and missed the snow in Norwich, but it was still really cold out near the coast. We couldn’t get near the sea front because of the storm warnings so we walked around one of our favourite parts of the countryside where there is a beautiful ford.
Heard
On Saturday our eldest niece was feeling poorly so Tom’s sister ended up staying home with her and our nephew and we just took our younger niece out for the day with us. She kept saying how glad she was that she’d come with us and that she’d remember the day forever, how sweet! I loved spending the day with her and am glad she has such a good time with us.
And lastly…
We’re having another weekend at home getting things done around the house, we’re really into this January clear out and finishing off odd jobs thing we’ve go going on so I’m looking forward to being productive. I would also love a few lazy hours with a book and a bath as I’m feeling pretty tired after this week.
I hope you all have a good week. I’m linking up with the lovely Morgana at Coffee Work Sleep Repeat for this week’s #LittleLoves and am looking forward to reading about what everyone else has been loving this week too.
Thanks for popping by,
Kimberley x
Both those books you’ve been dipping in and out of I’ve had my eye on for a while – hope you’re enjoying! The cake looks delicious! It sounds like you have some solid plans for the weekend; I hope you have a good one.
Sounds like a lovely weekend with family. That cake looks delicious. I’m dipping in and out of the little bok of hygge too. I also enjoyed this series of sherlock but the last episode was not the best of the 3.
I have see that book {the danish at of living} pop up quite a lot recently! Cake looks gorgoues! Do love a Victoria sponge! Coronation Street is the only soap I watch, it’s been very sad this week! Have a wonderful weekend xx
It’s been amazing to clear it all out this month and get those last bit of to dos of 2016 done and out of the way isn’t it? Good luck with it this weekend. Happy birthday cake looks delicious. Popping over from #littleloves Happy Weekend.
Sounds like you’ve had a busy week, but what a lovely weekend away in Norfolk. I really need to read that Hygge book, I love the whole concept of it. Fantastic name for a kitten! Enjoy your weekend xx

Oh Mr Basil Mittens is just adorable – and that’s a fabulous name too! I’m glad you had such a lovely week even if a busy one!!
